Beyonce

I'm writing this post while listening/watching Lemonade for like the 100th time and I'm warning you now, that if you aren't completely inspired by everything Beyonce does, stop reading this post because my fangirl flag is flying at full capacity. I know it may be a little surprising to find that I am part of the Beyhive because she is pretty commercial, but no matter what people say about Beyonce there is no denying that she is always creating her own trends, living by her own rules and doing her own damn thing.

Lemonade was 100% a testament to this. From the moment this epic video/movie starts you are taken on an hour long journey of mind-blowing visuals, slam poetry, feminism, black girl magic, AMAZING FASHION and over all awesomeness. This project made me feel empowered in my womanhood and made me want to get straight up PAID.

Above are some of my favorite looks from the video. Obviously, the canary yellow Roberto Cavalli dress from "Hold Up" is a front runner. This color is LIT and the red nails and a black lacy bra combo was giving me life. If you want to low key incorporate some of Beyonce's bad-assery into your street style, rock this color in anyway way possible. The next look I loved was from "Don't Hurt Yourself" and the now infamous "Becky with the good hair" quote. The mesh bra (very Ivy Park) with the tribal jacket is such a good look as well as all that silver jewelry is just....YAAAASSSSSS. The African influences in this video are insane and I can see this becoming a trend in the near future. The dress Winnie Harlow wears in "Forward" has these amazing colors and even Beyonce's tribal print dress from "Daddy Lessons", "Forward" and "All Night" is perfection. So many of these really artistic looks could be easily broken down for more streetwear friendly outfits. For example, those tribal prints could be used in a basic t-shirt, pile on the silver jewelry from "Don't Hurt Yourself" and have a really cool Beyonce inspired look. However, some looks could be worn as is, like the shear collared dresses in "Love Drought" and that bomb-ass suit Bey wears in "6-Inch".

This concludes my fan-girling. I am going to see Beyonce in all her glory on July 21st in Paris. I'm sure I will find some really inspiring streetwear there to blog about. Until next time Beyhive!
